When we talk about what makes a great construction team, we usually mention things like experience, attention to detail, or a strong work ethic — and those things are absolutely important. But at Honor, we’ve learned that what really sets a team apart is perspective. That’s why we’re committed to partnering with women-owned, veteran-owned, and minority-owned businesses that bring something different to the table — and make all of us better in the process.
We’ve Seen It Firsthand
We’ve had the opportunity to work with some incredible partners over the years — companies that didn’t follow the traditional path into the industry, but who bring a level of hustle, professionalism, and grit that’s impossible to ignore.
Sometimes it's a woman-owned crew that runs an unbelievably tight schedule and keeps every trade on track without ever raising their voice. Other times, it’s a veteran-led team that brings military-level coordination and calm to even the most chaotic job site. Or it’s a minority-owned subcontractor who knows the neighborhood like the back of their hand — and builds with a sense of pride that goes way beyond the plans.
No matter the background, the common thread is clear: they raise the bar. And we’re better for it.
Why It Matters
Diversity in construction isn’t about checking a box or meeting a quota. It’s about strengthening the entire industry. When you bring people with different backgrounds and experiences together, you get:
· Creative problem-solving — more ways to approach challenges and tight deadlines.
· Better culture — respect, collaboration, and perspective become the norm.
· Community alignment — buildings reflect the people who use them, and the teams that build them should too.
· Economic impact — working with minority-owned businesses reinvests in the communities we serve.
What We’re Doing About It
At Honor, we’re intentional about who we bring into the fold. We actively seek out and build relationships with subs and vendors who are women-, veteran-, and minority-owned. Not because it looks good on paper — but because they raise the standard. They challenge us, complement our strengths, and share our commitment to delivering great work with integrity.
Let’s Keep Building
We’re proud of the partners we’ve worked with so far, and we’re always looking for more. If you’re a minority-owned business in the construction space — let’s connect. We believe the industry is better when it’s more inclusive, and we want to be a part of making that happen.
