Honor Construction Project Spotlight: Spoonlickers

On November 4th, Spoonlickers celebrated the opening of its newest frozen yogurt shop located at 616 Fulton St W in Downtown Grand Rapids. While it’s the 4th location for owner, David Darling, it’s the first time Honor Construction has taken the lead. As experienced contractors in the restaurant industry, Honor was able to construct this 1350 sq. ft. quick serve yogurt shop on time and within budget.

Honor partnered with local architectural design company Progressive AE to get the job done right. Honor and Progressive AE developed a great working relationship and through open communication and professionalism, were able to divide and conquer, streamlining the entire process for Spoonlickers.

Progressive worked within established budget constraints helping the owner determine the project scope and overall design. With Honor’s help, Progressive designed the plans and specs of Spoonlickers and completed the architectural drawings well ahead of schedule. Without their quick response and quality design work, the project would not have started on time. They were very responsive and professional under tight deadlines.

The project kicked off September 15th with construction turnover taking place November 2nd, and a grand opening public celebration on Friday, November 4th. With such a short time frame between project turnover and public opening, there was no room for delay or error. Honor Construction capitalized on the skills that have been part of the company since 2009: relational capacity, agility, and attention to detail, to make sure Spoonlickers opened on time and without a hitch.

Honor Construction has a small, but agile team. They build relationships with their clients based on trust and respect. Their ability to make sure no one feels like a number coupled with their responsive nature and network of support, make them unique when compared to the larger construction companies available today.

The timeline was aggressive, but Honor took that challenge in stride. Thanks to project partners and the professionalism and availability David Darling brought to the project, Honor developed the space much like their past projects: on time, within budget and over expectation. Now just one question remains...is there any salted caramel left?
